The BDS on wheels deployment plan

Outgoing mission – “ to the market “   ( Domestic market )
Incoming mission – “ back to basics “ ( Strategic production ) 

Outgoing mission – “ to the market momentum“

Why : There are several MSME’s who make good products but do not have access to markets so they sell their products to traders in Alleppey & Kochi and realize less price. The sampling & travelling cost is also high so they avoid direct marketing.

What : We shall take the samples & prices + promotion material of these companies in the van & the SME owner + the BDS provider will go to larger cities like Bangalore & Chennai and do road shows of samples at :

1. In front of the large chain stores to give them a consumer survey report tto enable them in  
    purchase decision making.   
2. Show these samples to the unorganized market traders & agents and book orders.
3. SOLO Exhibitions will be organized.
4. Exposure visits of workers to markets

The van will be equipped with Laptop which will show coir production films for consumer education. It will be “ info KIOSK ” with all info on coir sector.  

When : Start date 2 Oct. 2008

Where : First stop Bangalore

With whom : Reliance mart ; MORE ; ICEC ; TCMMMA ; CSC ;ICA

Revenue model :  Initial pilots will be part funded by project. Later BDS providers will have to build a “BDS product” around this service.

Incoming mission – “ back to basics “

Why : There is a strong need to disseminate the latest info on production process & innovations developed by CCRI to village level.  

What : The project is taking several initiatives in improving production practices, example : spinning innovation. These will be recorded in video and an exhaustive education drive will take place in villages & town of coir production.

Different programs will be structured for :

  • Workers
  • Middle level management
  • Top level management    

Some more programs :

  • Export clinics will be conducted with BDS providers delivering solutions.
  • ISO sensitization talks will be delivered.
  • Design competition will be organized & best design award will be initiated.
  • Group discussions in villages
  • Mobile library & computer literacy to children of coir workers
